We did it

Dear readers,

we did it.

Yesterday, the authors of the Souls and Shadows collection hit the USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list. We made it to number 128, neatly snuggled between Ryan T. Higgins and E. L. James, and we are in the company of famous authors like Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, Angie Thomas or S.E. Hinton.

It’s unbelievable.

And it is you, you amazing, supporting readers who made it possible for my dream to come true. I have written Lost Moon, but you showed you kindness and love throughout the whole process. Even more, when it seemed that all was lost. This never-ending support means more to me than I can put into words right now.

Last week, I said that I felt like a character in one of my own novel, with all the ups and heartbreaking downs. Since yesterday, I’m more like a character in a John Irving novel where all kind of crazy things can happen. Only an hour before I heard the good news, I was shopping and an old man fell into my arms—literally. I had to call the ambulance, give him a kind of primary medical care. I held him and talked to him while we waited for the ambulance.

This moment grounded me.

There is so much in our lives we can be grateful for, small things and big things alike. If we had not made it to the list, I’d have been sad beyond words, but the world would not have ended. More importantly, this incident showed me that no kindness goes ever unnoticed.

Your kindness didn’t, either. I will write the best stories for you I can think of.

Lots of love and hugs for every single one of you.

Jenny

PS: The old man is fine. I called the hospital this morning and was told that he is currently having some check-ups, but not in mortal danger as I presumed.
